A Hen Party Clothes Swap

We can all admit to having clothes in our wardrobe that we no longer or hardly wear. Holding a clothes swap at your hen party could be a perfect way to help you solve that! This activity is simple, cheap and better yet it’s sustainable, since you’re encouraging everyone to rewear and reuse.

Your hens can pass a couple of hours swapping and sharing their old favourites without buying anything new! You could suggest a generic swap, or hold one for everyone to find their outfit for the night out we’re sure you’re planning for later on…

How to hold a hen party clothes swap:

  • In advance, encourage everyone attending to bring any clothes they no longer wear to the hen party.

  • Clothes should be in clean and in good quality - Both for the benefit of your hens, and in case you donate anything later.

  • Set up a space at your hen party venue or accommodation where the clothes can be laid out - a clothes rail and a full length mirror will be helpful - Maybe there’s a bedroom with a decent wardrobe. (Don’t forget hangers, too!)

  • As hens arrive, ask them to leave the clothes they’ve brought in the space for the swap.

  • You could leave the swap open all weekend so clothes can be tried and worn at leisure, or make it an activity at a fixed time.

  • At the end of the swap, everyone can take home whatever new clothes they choose.

  • Any clothes that don’t get taken home should be donated to any local charity shop. We’re working in aid of Oxfam, who would love to receive your clothes swap donations. Don’t forget you can donate your hen party props like sashes and veils once you’re done with them, too.
