Collect Personal Care Items

This is such a simple, low-effort idea that will make a big difference to women and people who are truly in need. Rather than giving something back by volunteering, your hens could use their collective power to donate some products or money to organisations who help poeple who really need them - like period products or underwear.

Consider the numbers

We are often cost-conscious at hen parties, but consider this: The average hen party costs £464, according to a survey by Hotels.com in 2018. Even if yours doesn’t cost that much - say, it’s £200 - period products cost about £3 a pack, or a multipack of knickers up to £10. So, it could be an added cost of just 2% to the hen party, and that tiny amount is going to do SO much good amongst everything else your hens are willing to spend.

How to collect items for less fortunate people at your Hen Party

  • Choose the charity you’re going to collect products for or donate to - we’ve got some listed here on the site who we support, but you could also choose another one you’re familiar with.

  • Check their guidelines for what and how you can donate - sometimes they prefer particular types of products because they know the needs of the people they’re helping (we’ve added some of that info on our charity pages, too).

  • In advance of your hen, tell the hens that you’re going to do a collection for your chosen charity, and what they should buy within the guidelines provided.

  • Ask that each person buys one pack of whatever items you’re collecting to bring to the hen party.

  • At the hen do collect all items together in a box that are donated.

  • After the hen, post these items off to your chosen charity (we’ve added the address info for the charities here on our site).
