Wear Pre-Loved Hen Party Outfits

Wearing a fabulous outfit is one of the most exciting parts of the hen party for many brides and hens - and with good reason! Hen parties are the perfect opportunity to be playful with your style and wear something fun or fierce.

Shopping for said outfit is a special part of the build up to your hen, but as we become more mindful about how much we buy and where we get our clothes from, we have an opportunity to think more carefully about how we do it.

Often these themes come at a cost to the environment

Creating a theme for your hen party is fab - it looks great in photos when everyone is coordinated and dressing up together is part of the fun itself!

However often these themes come at a cost to the environment as people buy cheap fast-fashion in styles they are unlikely to wear again. Plus, there’s the cost to each person when you ask them to buy new outfits.

But there’s a solution! Encouraging everyone to buy pre-loved clothes or rewear outfits they already have means you can avoid this impact on the planet and make it cheap for everyone to dress up. With the all the great thrifting apps and businesses out there it’s never been easier.

How to encourage pre-loved hen party outfits

There are lots of ways you can encourage or incorporate second-hand fashion into your hen party. We’ve rounded up a few ideas for you as inspiration:

  1. Kindly ask all your guests to only buy second-hand and pre-loved clothes if they’re looking for a new outfit for your hen do, or encourage them to re-wear something they already have.

  2. Make it clear to your hens that it means something to you to consider the environment and you’d like them to support that with you.

  3. Charity Shop Chic theme - For one part of your hen challenge everyone to buy an outfit from a charity shop to wear. You could get more specific with what they have to find!

  4. Second-hand Sequins theme - Ask everyone to wear sequins that aren’t new. They could already have them in their wardrobe, or get them at a vintage store or charity shop where you’ll always find some gems.

  5. Fierce Favourites theme - Your guests wear the fiercest outfit they already have in their wardrobe and have been waiting for an opportunity to wear again. The outcome will be amazing!

  6. Charity Shop Sweep activity - Get everyone together at a charity shop or vintage store and hunt for something to wear out in the evening.

  7. Hen Party Clothes Swap activity - Ask everyone to bring some pieces from their wardrobe they no longer wear and do a clothes swap with your whole group - people might leave your hen with something new and everything else can be donated to charity.
