Bookmark
Give time or donate money to Bookmark and help children learn to read.
About
Bookmark was started in 2018 with a simple vision: they want every child to read. Did you know that one in four children leave primary school in the UK unable to read well? That’s eight children in an average class. But you can help change that. 30 minutes for you. A lifetime of opportunity for them.
“Even if one child is influenced to think “books are for me” or “I can do this” - what an incredible difference to have made”
Reading isn’t just about books. It’s about reading a road sign, a safety manual, a job application or an important letter from the doctor. It is essential for a child to succeed, in school, and beyond.
WhY donate to Bookmark?
Building a donation into your hen party budget is an incredibly easy way to help others when you’re celebrating. Adding as little as £5 to your hen party budget can go such a long way when collected from a whole group - and that’s only about 2% of an average hen party cost!
Why Volunteer for Bookmark?
While this isn’t an activity your hen party can do together as a group, it might be something everyone can pledge to do as a way to give back, being inspired by your hen party to do so.
Bookmark Charity needs volunteers to help children build their reading skills and confidence. As a reading volunteer, you'll spend just one hour a week, split into two 30-minute sessions, supporting a child online.
Volunteering with Bookmark fits around your schedule and can make a huge difference to a child who is struggling at school. So, your lunchbreak could change a child’s future.
