Everyone loves a flower workshop… or is that just us? There's just something soothing about handling flowers, don’t you think? Or even better… when you get to wear them as a crown on your head. You may well have done a flower crown workshop or some other form of floristry at a hen party by now, but what is often overlooked is whether or not this activity is sustainable.

What is sustainable floristry?

Sustainable floristry considers the farming of the flowers themselves - selecting only flowers that have been grown locally and are in season. When the flowers haven’t been flown in or driven miles this significantly reduces the carbon-footprint of your hen party activity.

The other thing to be aware of is the waste generated - if you make a flower crown, what do you do with it once the flowers have died? There’s often plastic, wire and ribbon involved that has to go straight in the bin… not to mention the flowers themselves (although they can be composted).

How to make your hen party floristry sustainable

That’s easy - you just need to pick a sustainable florist who offers the kind of workshop you’re looking for on your hen do! We’ve partnered with some florists in the UK who are really passionate about bringing this kind of activity to you - find them in the Featured section on this page.
