Sustainable Craft Workshops

If the person you’re celebrating likes to be hands-on and get creative then a craft workshop could be perfect for their hen do! It’s a lovely way to spend a few hours together in a relaxing environment over your hen weekend, either enjoying it with some tea and cake, or you can always add a cheeky class of bubbles!

However, some workshops can be wasteful in terms of the things you make or how you make them - but it’s easy to avoid that. There’s so many people and small businesses out there offering gorgeous activities that consider the planet at the same time.

How can I tell if a craft workshop is sustainable?

There are lots of ways a craft workshop can be sustainable - we recommend looking out for the following things:

  1. Using recycled or second-hand materials for what you’ll make.

  2. Implementing zero-waste practices or limiting the waste generated.

  3. Using materials and products that are non-toxic or that don’t harm the environment.

  4. Using fresh products (like flowers or plants) that are in season or locally-sourced.

  5. Making things that you’ll genuinely use again, rather than trinkets that get forgotten.

How to find & book a sustainable craft workshop

There are so many different ways you can get creative and crafty - the possibilities feel almost endless and can fit with the particular interest of your group or bride. Options range through macramé, jesmonite, lino-printing, sewing, sustainable floristry, no-sew kimonos… you name it!

At Hens with Heart we partner with many of these businesses to take the effort away from you having to search for them. We identify small businesses around the UK that work hard to be sustainable in their workshops and love to host hen parties.

Just browse the featured partners on the page here and you can find their contact info to book with them.
