Hen do themes you’ll love with sustainability in mind

Making your hen party something a little different with a fun theme is a big favourite for many hens.

Since lots of hen parties follow a similar vibe, so make yours different from the rest by choosing a fabulous theme.

Plus choosing a theme can help bring the group together, especially if there are some hens who don’t know each other so well.

We’ve put together some ideas for hen do themes that will have you getting creative and thinking outside the traditional hen do dressing up box!

On a sustainable note

The themes we’ve chosen don’t rely on buying lots of bits that you’ll never use again, especially for fancy dress.

So often, these fun but flimsy accessories go straight into landfill, and break after one use, so they aren’t even reusable for other hens.

There are so many fab outfits and accessories you can find second hand, rented or borrowed, so remember that when you’re planning to look for a certain theme.

Check out our blog on How to dress sustainably for a hen party for more inspiration.

Dress up themes

These hen do themes focus on simply what you wear to give your hens some outfit inspiration for the day or evening.

Choose a theme for each night for lots of fun dress up opportunities or adopt some easy to follow rules for dressing and make it a competition!

Second hand only

Take it one step further and totally dedicate your hen party to stylish second hand dressing.

Challenge your hens to dress only in sensational second hand outfits that they’ve bought from charity shops and flea markets or exchanged and borrowed from others.

Or why not have a clothes swap to exchange all your best goodies with your friends!

Here’s more information on how to host a great clothes swap.

Make it a fun competition to and award the best dressed hen something fun at the end of the challenge.

You can also apply this to fancy dress or other types of themed dressing such as finding a ball gown, wedding dress or vintage piece.

Posh Frock Eleganza

Got some fancy frocks in the wardrobe that need a bit of air time?

Why not choose an elegant theme for your hens to get dressed up and feel like you’re straight off the red carpet.

This theme is best used on one night, but what you do when you’re in the dresses is up to you!

Pyjama party

The pyjama party is a cute classic for hen parties who are making the most of a night in with the girls.

Wherever you are, get dressed up in your favourite jim jams and have a movie night, pampering session or delicious home cooked meal.

Monochrome Glam

A plain and simple monochrome dress up may be just the ticket whether you love fashion or not!

This no fuss hen do theme can be stylish, sexy and minimal effort and can probably already be found in your wardrobe or sourced through friends or in a clothes swap.

Choose a colour for all your hens to wear as your theme for an evening- something along the lines of white party or black and gold.

Accessorise, pamper each other and feel fabulous!

Dress up and do it themes

If you want your hen do theme to be a bit more interactive than just dressing up, why not dress for the occasion and throw in some fun activities too.

Sporty Spice

If you’re a group that loves to move, why not try a sporty theme?

Slip on your best sportswear and trainers get sweaty in some exercise classes and movement workshops that will leave you feeling fab.

You could check out a strut class with Miss Erica Storm or get pumping at a Barry’s Bootcamp.

If a serious sweat isn’t your style, there are lots of alternative sporty options, like hiking, horse riding or dance!

Festival Fabulous

Festival glam has to be one of our favourite hen party dressing themes, but it can include so much more than just a cute outfit.

Inviting your hens to a festival themed celebration can lead to a whole host of fun events, workshops and ideas that don’t cost the earth.

Why not try a workshop that gets you prepared for your festival fits such as sustainable flower crown making or eco glitter make up workshop.

These are both great ways to incorporate activities as part of your hen do that fit the theme and make you feel great.

You could also organise going to see a band, attend a day event or even create your own mini festival experiences going camping or glamping.

Vintage dress up

If you love vintage clothing, a vintage dress up theme is a cool opportunity to practise second hand and preloved dressing.

Plus, you could treat your hens to a masterclass in mending and sewing, for example at St Margaret’s House, where you learn to give new life to old things.

Contributing a vintage theme, why not organise a vintage tea party or head to an event where you can show off your fancy frocks.
